Harm Reduction (Female Only)

New Start’s Harm Reduction Service is a female only service providing a unique package of support and accommodation for women who face multiple disadvantages.

The provision of support focuses upon women’s expressed needs and lived experience and considers ALL areas of the female’s life from a holistic perspective to identify harm, encourage harm minimisation strategies and assist with gradually becoming more stable. Underpinning this work is a Harm Reduction Model that encompasses respect, acceptance, compassion, collaboration and empowerment.

"Easy access appointments for females residing at the project"

Workers at the project are specifically trained in Women’s Centred Working and Cognitive Analytic Therapy, supporting a Trauma Informed Care approach across all areas of work, identifying unresolved or unacknowledged trauma which can act as a dominant barrier to positively moving forward for women.

The Centre facilitates a range of in-reach services available on-site to ensure stress-free, easy access appointments for females residing at the project:

  • Complimentary Therapy sessions are delivered by Healing Space for improved health and well-being, self-care and personal healing.
  • For females wishing to consider recovery, Action on Addiction provides pre-abstinence support via one-to-one and group sessions.
