Adults Services
New Start was established in 1997 as a not-for-profit organisation with a specific purpose:
'To provide residential and supported accommodation services for people with little or no housing choice'.
The service is a Liverpool-based, family-run business supporting some of the city's most vulnerable homeless members of society.
Vulnerable Adults
A vulnerable adult is a person over 18 who is, or may be in need of some form of community care service(s).
New Start provides housing services for vulnerable adults who:
- Have mental illness
- Misuse drugs and/or alcohol
- Have social or emotional problems
- Exhibit challenging behaviour; who without adequate protection are open to physical or emotional harm and may be extremely susceptible to many forms of abuse; putting both their general health and personal safety at risk on a daily basis.
New Start exists to provide:
- A safe quality home for vulnerable adults,
- A wide range of quality support to meet the needs of service users supported by the organisation,
- Support that is tailored to meet changing and developing need,
- Environments that are caring and understanding in which everyone is listened to and given respect, regardless of the nature of their issues.
