New Start’s services thrive on partnership working. The organisation understands that collaboration from other agencies is an essential factor of success when proactively addressing the needs of individuals who access services. Using these principals New Start aims to promote and contribute effectively to the implementation and delivery of the city’s Local Area Agreements (LAA) set by Liverpool First.
These 3 year contracts between central and local government aim to address the priorities of people in their neighbourhoods, with a goal of delivering both successful and productive outcomes. ‘Liverpool 2024: A Thriving International City’ is the 3-year delivery plan to drive the new City Vision (this is contained within the Sustainable Community Strategy). Both documents are available for download from Liverpool First’s website (www.liverpoolfirst.org.uk).
Outcomes for the city have been categorised into themes which comprise of 5 main drivers:
- Competitiveness
- Connectivity
- Distinctive Sense of Place
- Thriving Neighbourhoods
- Health & Wellbeing
These are cross cutting drivers which link into a total of 12 desired outcomes to which partnerships in Liverpool are collectively hoping to achieve.
New Start currently contributes towards the new City Vision by providing services that promote:
- Increased sustainable wealth creation, jobs and businesses, particularly in the knowledge economy
- A larger more skilled workforce through improved skills and qualifications
- Improved housing standards, choice and affordability
- A dynamic Third Sector, efficient, effective and responsive to local services with a cleaner and greener environment
- Reducing crime, fear of crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour & substance mis-use
- Cohesive, open communities that value diversity
- Improved health, well-being and reduced health inequalities
- Improved opportunities for independent living & for children and families to thrive
New Start is now in a well placed position in terms of the services it provides within Liverpool to confidently demonstrate that its holistic practices work in harmony with the LAA drivers benefiting the Strategic Partnership as they develop ‘joined up solutions to local problems’.
This is evident in all the housing and support services delivered by the organisation, channelling through into new developments the service pursues in the community work it undertakes.
